The ball is on the roof of 1 Times Square on Broadway, between 42nd and 43rd Streets.
The crews install 192 new Waterford crystal triangles on the iconic ball that will fall at midnight.
This year’s design is entitled “The Gift of Happiness” and weighs over 11,000 pounds and has a diameter of 12 feet.

J. Lo will headline “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve” on ABC, singing in Times Square just before the ball launches in 2021.
Billy Porter, who will have a dual role as host, is scheduled to reunite with Cyndi Lauper for a duet show in New York. The two previously collaborated on the Broadway hit “Kinky Boots”, for which Lauper wrote music. Machine Gun Kelly and Jimmie Allen will also be performing in Times Square.
Additional performers include Nelly, Miley Cyrus, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Maluma, Ella Mai, Lewis Capaldi and Brandy.
