Passionate about working with Xbox again
Looks like there’s a new weapon in town. Charismatic producer Tomonobu Itagaki, the creator of the fighting franchise Dead or alive and the honcho head behind the modern Ninja Gaiden titles, announced that it has formed its own studio – Itagaki Games.
The news was revealed in an excerpt from a recent interview between Itagaki and Bloomberg, which focused on 20 years on the Xbox. Itagaki games will exist as their own effort and are not related to studios such as Koei Tecmo, Valhalla or Team Ninja, with which Itagaki has been closely associated in the past.
In the interview (which you can check out on Facebook), Itagaki noted how comfortable he felt when he worked with Microsoft / Xbox in the early ’00s, especially on the Xbox launch title Dead or Alive 3. In the interview, Itagaki also expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to collaborate once again with the industry giant.
“The entire Xbox main team, including Seamus Blackley, Ed Fries, Kevin Bachus, their leader Robbie Bach and George Peckham, who often played golf with me, gave me full support,” Itagaki recalls. “I visited Redmond every two months and they presented me with a lot of tools and assistance that would help accelerate the development of the game. […] If they come to me, it will be an honor for me. “
