Thirteen people at a COVID-19 vaccination site in Colorado had adverse reactions to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on Wednesday – the closure of operations for that day, according to a report.
Officials did not disclose the types of reactions suffered by less than 1 percent of the more than 1,700 people who were shot in Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, The Denver Gazette reported.
The vaccination effort was sponsored by the state and the Health Belt. More than 600 people scheduled for Wednesday were unable to receive their vaccinations after the early closure.
“We followed our protocols and, with great caution, we made the decision – in partnership with the state – to suspend operations for the rest of the day,” Centura Health officials said in a statement obtained by the newspaper.
People with appointments that have been rejected will be rescheduled to receive the shots at another site on Sunday.
