The COVID-19 vaccine clinic for the elderly attracts hundreds to the Inland Empire

LAKE ELSINORE (KABC) – Before sunrise, a line of cars meandered down Lake Elsinore Street in front of Diamond Stadium.

The site is a super vaccination clinic exclusively for those aged 65 and over.

David Hollingsworth, 84, waited an hour before shooting his covid-19.

“I’m looking forward to taking the second one so we’re done. I want to get on a plane, fly back and visit my son and his kids back in Connecticut,” Hollingsworth said. .

While he was called, there were many in a row who did not.

James Kennedy, 87, came up with just a newspaper article about the vaccine clinic.

“I’m diabetic. I just had my insulin injection. I had two open heart surgeries. I don’t know about a date. No one ever said anything about a date,” Kennedy said.

He was not alone.

Many seniors in a row mentioned a lack of technological knowledge or even a home computer for confusion, along with long periods of storage on the phone.

“We probably called 20 different phone numbers that we called from the California Department of Health and they gave us Riverside, but no one answers the phone,” said Jay Adams of Murrieta.

Earlier this week, Riverside County made 5,600 vaccine appointments available to its elderly population, which were quickly replaced.

“What we want to do is help people, we don’t want to take them away, but it’s so important for people to follow the protocol by getting these appointments,” said John Welsh, a public spokesman for Riverside County.

Finally, the county officials did not return the seniors due to lack of programming.

The ease of gesture was obvious.

Riverside County is stressing the public because of limited vaccines, people need to make an appointment. About 700 to 800 people are expected to be vaccinated in Lake Elsinore on Saturday.
