The COVAX vaccine batch will arrive in the country today

The country will receive a new shipment of vaccines against COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

The vaccines that will arrive in the country will be through the COVAX mechanism, which was the first agreement signed by the Dominican government to obtain vaccines against the virus.

As reported by public health, the new batch will arrive on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and enter through Las Américas International Airport. 96 thousand doses are expected.

The COVAX program, created by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the GAVI Vaccine Alliance to distribute covide vaccines worldwide, will send 26 million vaccines to Latin American countries, mainly from AstraZeneca, between March and May, according to the report of the EFE news agency.

Similarly, the agency explained at the time that the Dominican Republic would receive 463,000 doses in a first batch.

The agreement with the Global Equitable Access to Vaccines Fund against COVID-19 (COVAX) states that the country will receive a total of 2,169,600 vaccines in exchange for $ 22,889,280.
