The Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte, reported that the government will sign about 10 contracts for the purchase and sale of clean energy, as well as an equal number of renewable energy projects, mainly solar and wind, which in the coming years they will contribute 1,100 megawatts to the country.
Almonte spoke after the announcement of President Luis Abinader that he will start in the coming days tender for 800 megabytes of natural gas with its warehouse to start a project to produce this type of energy in Manzanillo, Montecristi.
“The companies to which these final concession contracts will be awarded will sell energy directly to the distribution companies. The number of megawatts is 800, which in a few years would be the addition of a renewable capacity in different regions of the country “, the minister explained.
The Minister of Energy and Mines said that there are many issues, such as the environment, related to regulation and tariffs, which will contribute to a more competitive electricity service.
Almonte spoke during the signing of the electricity pact, on Thursday, at the National Palace.
“The citizen finds in the pact provisions or agreements that guarantee the protection and rights regarding the quality of the electrical service or the compensation that must be delivered to the citizen when the electrical service, for unjustified reasons, does not arrive on time and the quality is necessary,” Almonte said.
