The coronavirus vaccination site will open in February at Phoenix Municipal Stadium

PHOENIX – A second COVID-19 vaccination site opens next month following a high demand for first place at State Farm Stadium.

On February 1, Phoenix Municipal Stadium will open as a coronavirus vaccination site. Registration for the on-site appointment will begin on Tuesday, January 19 at 9 a.m., according to a statement from Governor Doug Ducey’s office.

Phoenix Municipal Stadium, located next to the Phoenix Zoo, at the corner of Mill Avenue and Priest Drive / Galvin Parkway, will offer daytime meetings depending on vaccine availability.

ABOUT: Arizona to begin vaccinating people over 65 starting next Tuesday

The news comes as State Farm Stadium continues to see a large number of vaccine registrations, resulting in a fully booked January on the Glendale website.

More meetings for State Farm Stadium in February will become available on Tuesday, January 19 at 9:00. They will also provide appointments for the second dose, in addition to the current capacity for the first doses, the media release said.

The governor’s office says there are more than 200 vaccination sites that have received the vaccine in Arizona, including 45 community health centers.

For those still looking to sign up for a meeting with the coronavirus vaccine, county health departments are said to be working to expand availability on their websites.

The CDC’s retail pharmacy program will add up to 100 drug stores that can administer the vaccine in the next few weeks. Once the program is in full swing, more than 800 pharmacies in Arizona will have the vaccine available.

Nearly 190,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered in Arizona since Thursday morning, including 17,000 people who have completed both doses.
