In the first phase of the Christmas Operation “Commitment for Life 2020”, 11 deaths were recorded in the operation due to 107 traffic accidents.
This was announced this Saturday andthe director of the Center for Operations and Emergencies (COE), Juan Manuel Méndez, which reported that in addition to the operation, another 8 deaths were recorded for a total of 19 deaths.
“Inside the device on the main roads of the country, 11 people died and eight more people outside the operation,” the general explained in the latest report of the first phase of Operation Christmas.
In accidents registered on various streets, boulevards and highways of the national territory 159 people were affected.
Of the 107 accidents recorded, 84 involved motorcycles, 21 involved light vehicles, 4 rolled and 4 heavy vehicles.

While it reported a total of 245 people intoxicated by alcohol, including six minors aged between 14 and 17 years.
Also, 98 people were treated for food poisoning.
The provinces that reported the most cases of intoxication are: Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, Santiago, San Cristóbal and La Vega.
The second Christmas operation called “Commitment for Life” will begin on Wednesday, December 30, at 2:00 pm and will end on January 1, 2021 at 6:00 pm.
