NEW DELHI: Following the daily growth of new Covid-19 cases in some states, the Center on Wednesday deployed high-level multidisciplinary teams to visit 10 states that have seen an increase in infections.
The central teams will visit Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to determine the reason behind the top cases.
The teams will support states in public health measures for targeted response and Covid management, the health ministry said.
The center advised states and UTs to conduct a regular review of the emerging situation with the district officials concerned to ensure that the losses obtained so far in Covid’s management are not lost.
The center also wrote Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab and J&K. “States should focus on taking aggressive measures to break the chain of transmission and ensure that RT-PCR testing is stepped up to eliminate undetected cases from the population,” Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in a statement. letter.
These states / TUs were advised to increase testing in a focused manner in affected districts and to ensure that all symptomatic negatives of antigenic tests are mandatorily tested by RT-PCR tests. Those positive tests need to be isolated or hospitalized promptly, all their close contacts need to be tracked and tested without delay, Bhushan said.
“Any laxity in implementing strict measures to reduce the spread, especially given the new strains of virus observed in some countries, could aggravate the situation,” he added.
