The CDC links the focus of listeria to a particular type of cheese

NEW YORK (WABC) – An outbreak of listeria has plagued people in New York and Connecticut.

The CDC says it has linked the disease to “fresh, soft queso-style cheese.”

No brand is mentioned.

The agency tells pregnant women and people over the age of 65 not to eat cheese. Others should also be careful.

There have also been cases in Maryland and Virginia.

Seven people were hospitalized.
