Everything he wants for Christmas! The blind kitten Gabriel, who lost his eyes because of the “cat flu”, meets again with his brother Arthur six weeks after the separation of the wanderers

- Gabriel lost both eyes after suffering from cat flu while in a wild colony
- His brother Arthur had been rescued six weeks before the RSPCA
- The couple now live in the same foster home and will soon be adopted
A blind kitten was reunited with his brother a few weeks after the strays were rescued separately from the RSPCA.
The 14-week-old kitten, named Gabriel, lost his eyes after suffering from cat flu, according to Inspector Krissy Raine, who found him on Sunday, December 20, in Peterlee, Durham County.
Another kitten, Arthur, had been rescued six weeks earlier from the same area, and Krissy and her colleague realized that the pair must be brothers.
About the cat reunion, she said: “It was a very special and enchanting and wonderful moment to believe that Gabriel will have something familiar in another world.”

The video shows Arthur licking his brother’s face in affection, and Krissy revealed that the couple knew each other immediately.
She added: “It’s amazing that Gabriel survived. I took him to a vet and I think he had cat flu, which left his eyes badly damaged and they perished. But he is very healthy, he did not need treatment from veterinarians.
“Even though he was from a wild colony when I took him to the vets, they were shocked at how calm and friendly he was and instantly fell in love with him.

“I named him Gabriel because he is an absolute angel and everyone who meets him adores him.”
Krissy’s colleague, Inspector Gemma Lynch, had rescued Arthur, Gabriel’s brother, six weeks earlier from the same area.
Arthur was not feeling well when he was rescued and had to be operated on to remove an eye that was thought to have been damaged by cat flu. The second eye has been saved and Arthur will now act as a guide for Gabriel.
“Gemma couldn’t believe it when she realized she had saved her brother a few weeks before, and I knew we had to reunite them,” Krissy said.
“Arthur was cared for by an adoptive family and they were so pleased to learn that his brother had been rescued – and they welcomed him with open arms.

“They are both now in the same foster family, they are such calm, caring and affectionate cats – such special angels. Now that they’re together again, Arthur can guide Gabriel through life.
The couple will look for a home together in the future, where they can live as indoor cats.
“After everything that happened in 2020, this is such a wonderful story to share with people, as a reminder that lovely things happen every day,” Krissy said.
“It’s a Christmas miracle for Gabriel and Arthur – we’re so excited to be together for Christmas Day, it’s the perfect gift for them.”
