The kingdom comes … in defense of Prince Charles.

Members of the Kingdom Choir – who sang at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding – speak in defense of Prince Charles as the royal family faces charges of racism stemming from the Sussex Sunday night pow-wow with Oprah Winfrey.

Karen Gibson, founder and director of The Kingdom’s Choir, told TMZ on Thursday that Prince Charles invited the African-American group to bless the congregation during Harry and Meg’s wedding, an invitation he considered sincere. She also claims that Charles went “out of his way” to congratulate them on their success at the event.

Markle claimed during the bomb interview that a member of the royal family expressed concern about the color of her skin and that of Harry Archie’s son, because Markle’s mother is African-American. Winfrey confirmed that neither the Queen nor Prince Phillip are the kings in question, prompting many to point the finger at Charles and / or his eldest son, Prince William.

For his part, William insisted that kings are not “very much a racist family” when questioned. Charles has not yet addressed the allegations, leaving him to laugh nervously only when asked about the controversial Q&A.
