President Joe Biden’s Covid-19 response team is holding a briefing Friday on the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed at least 455,875 Americans.

The information comes a day after Johnson & Johnson said it had asked the Food and Drug Administration to authorize its single vaccine-Covid-19 for emergency use in the U.S. The FDA has scheduled a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Vaccines and Related Organic Products February 26 to discuss the vaccine, which could be distributed in the US as early as this month.

Federal and state officials look forward to licensing the J&J vaccine. Unlike the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, which require two doses given in about three to four weeks, J&J drugs require a single dose, facilitating the logistics of health care providers. .
