A motorcyclist lost his life in a car accident on the Carretera de Oro, and the driver of a vehicle died in another incident in Morazán.

A number of traffic accidents were recorded during the Christmas holiday in El Salvador, according to reports from aid agencies.

At least two people lost their lives and several were injured in events that took place in different parts of the country in recent hours.

A spectacular accident between a pickup truck and a sedan-type vehicle occurred early on Friday, on the Ruta Militar highway, in front of the El Divisadero National Institute in Morazán, the Fire Department detailed.

In this case, the driver of one of the vehicles died and the other was injured. Authorities suspect the incident was caused by improper speed.

The deadly victim was identified as 27-year-old Miguel Ángel Flores Reyes. Firefighters used their hydraulic equipment to recover the body of the young man who was caught between the car’s twisting irons. The injured person was transferred to the national hospital.

Meanwhile, an unidentified motorcyclist died after being hit by a motorist in the early hours of the morning at kilometer 14 and a half of the Golden Highway, the Rescue Command reported.

The National Civil Police (PNC) regulated traffic in the area, while the incident that took place in the section leading from Soyapango to San Salvador was being processed, the deputy transport minister reported via his Twitter account.

Accidental accidents

The Salvadoran Red Cross said it treated 24-year-old motorcyclist Luis Alcides Campos, who was injured in an accident on Chiltiupán Street and 17 Avenida Norte in Santa Tecla, La Libertad. The young man was transferred to San Rafael National Hospital.

Another incident occurred on Friday morning at kilometer 45 of the Troncal del Norte highway, near the Colima bridge, where the driver of a truck hit a private vehicle.

Red Cross sources confirmed that five people were injured, including two minors and one elderly person. The victims were transferred to the Aguilares clinic and added that they will be directed to different hospitals.

At the same event, sources from Cruz Verde Salvadoreña indicated that they assisted César E., aged 27, who was rescued from the twisted irons of his vehicle. The young man was transferred to the General Social Security in San Salvador.

“After I rescued him, I immobilized him because he had an exposed fracture in his right knee and other possible fractures in different parts of his body,” he said.

Cruz Verde also reported an accident near the Emmanuel community on Monsignor Romero Boulevard. He treated an injured motorist on the spot. According to the emergency department, the driver refused to be transferred to a medical center.
