The 5.9 magnitude earthquake is recorded in El Salvador and Guatemala News from El Salvador

The quake struck off the coast of San Vicente just minutes after another 5.9-magnitude quake struck off the coast of Guatemala.

A 4.9 magnitude earthquake shook El Salvador on Friday. According to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Marn), this took place at 11:09 am

El Marn pointed out that the epicenter took place off the coast of San Vicente, 42 kilometers south of the mouth of the Lempa River.

Social media users point out that it has been felt in various departments of the country, including Sonsonate, San Miguel, Usulután, San Salvador and Cuscatlán.

The quake occurred minutes after another quake was recorded off the coast of Guatemala, which had a magnitude of 5.9 degrees and occurred at 10:10, the United States Geological Survey added.

The epicenter was located 47 kilometers southwest of Champeric and 162 kilometers from Guatemala City, with a depth of 58 kilometers.
