Among the new officials is Juan Carlos Bidegaín as the new interior minister, who is the son of the current education minister.
The appointments of at least four new government officials were announced on Wednesday to replace positions in some state portfolios.
In the afternoon, President Nayib Bukele swore in the new Interior Minister, Juan Carlos Bidegaín, who is also the son of the head of education Carla Hananía de Varela, as verified by El Diario de Hoy with official documents.
Bukele mentioned, through his Twitter account, that Bidegaín has been part of his government since he started, “he has worked as a director in the Deputy Minister of Transport and, from September 2020 until now, he has coordinated the PSE logistics from the Ministry of Health, SEM” and the Interdisciplinary Epidemiological Containment Team.

Bidegaín will take over the leadership of Mario Durán, who led that institution and who in a few weeks will take over as mayor of San Salvador after winning the February elections last year.
It was previously known that Pablo Anliker had been removed from the post of head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (MAG). Although the announcement of his dismissal was not officially made by the Executive, Anliker has already withdrawn his position from his Twitter account.
In his place was appointed David Martínez, a veterinarian graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, who worked at CENTA and was also director general for animals at MAG.
The changes in the government cabinet take place a few days after the list of corrupt people in Central America is known, among whom several Salvadoran officials have been appointed.

Rolando Brizuela would also assume the role of Superintendent of the Financial System (SSF), as confirmed by government sources to the newspaper El Faro.
Brizuela will occupy the position left by Héctor Gustavo Villatoro, who on March 26 took the oath as the new Minister of Justice and Security, in place of Rogelio Rivas.
Rivas has led that state portfolio since Nayib Bukele took over the presidency on June 1, 2019. The president did not detail the reason for Rivas’ departure.

In the afternoon, Bukele announced another change: the creation of the National Directorate of Municipal Works with GOES funds, which “will be in charge of approving the projects requested by the mayors”, he explained.
The official responsible for this direction will be Álvaro O’Byrne, the current director of FOVIAL.
While he was the new director of FOVIAL, Bukele confirmed Alexander Ernesto Beltrán, who was the director for the construction and maintenance of MOP’s public works.
