The 4.5-magnitude earthquake shakes El Salvador and is felt in southern Honduras

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.-In recent days, several earthquakes have shaken communities in El Salvador. The latest – 4.5 degrees on the Richter scale – was recorded on Saturday in San Salvador, the country’s capital ruled by Here’s how to look.

The quake affected not only the neighboring country, but was also visible in southern Honduras.

Standing Committee on Contingencies (Copeco) detailed at 9:22 in the morning, via Twitter, that an “earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5, in San Miguel, the sister of the Republic of El Salvador, possibly noticeable in the southern part of Honduras”.

So far no material damage has been reported in both nations.

On December 15, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake shook western Puerto Lempira, Honduras.

Last week – Friday and Saturday – three magnitude 4.1, 4.2 and 2.5 earthquakes shook El Salvador.

The first took place at 21:44 off the coast of La Libertad, 44 kilometers south of El Sunzal beach.

The second was at 23:02 in the city of Ciudad Arce in the department of La Libertad, with an epicenter about 22 kilometers from Santa Tecla. It had a magnitude of 2.5.

The third took place minutes later, at 11:08 p.m., off the coast of La Paz, 12 kilometers southwest of Las Hoja Beach, with a magnitude of 4.1.
