Texas power outages: Katy and Bryan residents use Ford F-150 truck generators to power homes in the middle of winter storms

HOUSTON (KTRK) – As Texans face catastrophic events around the winter storm, a handful of people who have lost power at home have used their 2021 Ford F-150s with a built-in Pro Power Onboard generator for to go through the worst.

These include the residents of Katy and Bryan.

Katy’s Randy Jones was without power from Sunday to Wednesday. He powered the appliances in the house by connecting the extension cords directly to the truck bed.

Dan Basile of Bryan has the power now – but he had used the F-150 2021 he had just bought to heat his house during the outages.

The stories of both men were shared in a forum for F-150 enthusiasts.

Pro Power Onboard means that F-150 customers can access an integrated power generator. Pro Power Onboard is available on the new 2021 F-150 models. Power is accessible through cabin outlets and up to four 120-volt 120-volt outlets mounted on the cargo bed.
