Texas investor uses GameStop winnings to help sick children – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Amid the Wall Street drama surrounding GameStop and Robinhood, some investors involved in the short sale of GameStop use their income to do good deeds for others.

An investor, who wished to remain anonymous, on Thursday delivered 10 Nintendo switches purchased from GameStop locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The investor said that his efforts were possible due to GME gains.

Wall Street was rocked this week by a campaign by small investors to take large hedge funds by raising Grapevine-based GameStop shares and other struggling retailers.

The campaign began on Reddit and other discussion forums, as small investors encouraged each other to buy GameStop shares, forcing larger players, such as hedge funds, to cover their bets by buying shares, further raising the price.

The anonymous investor who donated Nintendo Switches said he made “a good amount of money through r / WallStreetBets in this hilarious GME transaction” and was inspired to give it back “in an equally hilarious way.”

The investor said their hope is to persuade others in the Reddit forum r / WallStreetBets to similarly give back and turn the GameStop short sale into a definitive force.
