Texan quarterback Deshaun Watson has denied allegations of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.
Tony Buzbee, the Houston lawyer who is the alleged victim, told Fox 26 in Texas that Watson was receiving a massage from the unidentified woman when the 25-year-old “went too far.”
Details about the costume were rare.
Watson rejected the statement on Twitter after Buzbee made a post on social media about the trial.
“Following a post on social media by an applicant’s lawyer seeking publicity, I recently learned of a lawsuit that was apparently filed against me,” Watson wrote. “I have not seen the complaint yet, but I know this: I have never treated a woman with anything but maximum respect. The applicant’s lawyer claims that it is not about money, but before filing the summons, he made a six-digit request for settlement, which I quickly rejected. “
Watson added that he is looking forward to deleting his name.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Buzbee said he was “extremely proud to represent those who do not have perceived power against those who PERCEIVED power.”
“This case I just filed against Watson is not about money – it’s about dignity and stopping behavior that should be stopped, NOW!” Buzbee said.
Watson, the three-time Pro Bowl defender, has been at the center of trade talks this season after asking to be moved. The former Clemson star would have become dissatisfied with the process of Nick Caserio’s hiring team as general manager in January.
