Tessica Brown, a Louisiana woman whose use of Gorilla Glue in her hair made national headlines, underwent surgery in Beverly Hills to remove the offensive gunk, according to reports.
“The operation went well,” Dr. Michael Obeng, director of MiKO Plastic Surgery, told CBS Los Angeles. “Tessica is doing well. He’s awake. The hair team does their hair. ”
After the four-hour procedure, during which Brown was under mild anesthesia, he drowned when he realized he could run his fingers through his hair again, according to TMZ.
In the TMZ video of the procedure, Obeng explained that he combined the medical grade adhesive remover, aloe vera, olive oil and acetone to break down polyurethane, the main ingredient in Super Glue.
Brown is later seen looking in the mirror as she checks her newly released hair.
The surgeon contacted the desperate five-year-old mother, who called for help in a TikTok video that went viral and offered to offer free chemical treatment. It would normally cost more than $ 12,000.
“When I found out that this is a reality, you can only feel compassion and sympathy for Tessica,” Obeng told CBS LA on Tuesday. “The procedure will be the dissolution of polyurethane, from which Gorilla Glue is made.”
Prior to Wednesday’s procedure, Brown and her sister used Goof Off to soften the glue enough to remove the ponytail, according to TMZ.
She told the media that she was ready to wear wigs for the rest of her life – but she was relieved that she would not need them long after Obeng’s work.
Brown said in a previous interview that she had never intended her ordeal to capture so much attention.
“I was never going to take this on social media. The reason I took this on social networks was because I didn’t know what to do “, she told ET.
“And I know someone there could have told me something. I didn’t think for a second when I woke up the next morning that it would be everywhere, “she added.
