Tens of thousands are protesting in front of Netanyahu’s house before the Israeli elections

Tens of thousands of Israelis protested outside the prime minister Benjamin NetanyahuBenjamin (Bibi) NetanyahuMOREon Saturday, just three days before the country’s elections.

In images captured during the demonstration, protesters demanded the end of Netanyahu’s 12-year rule, as the country moves toward a fourth election in two years. The protest was the largest against Netanyahu this year, with local media estimating that the crowd exceeds 20,000 people, according to a Reuters report.

Netanyahu’s Likud party expects to win the most parliamentary seats in the March 23 elections, although it is unclear whether it will be able to win a majority on its own or form a party with another party.

Demonstrations are also coming as Netanyahu remains embroiled in an alleged corruption scandal over allegations of bribery, fraud and breach of trust. The prime minister maintains his innocence.

Israel’s fourth quick election in two years was launched in December, when its parliament missed a deadline to pass a budget. The breakdown came after a dispute between Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz over the national budget, which is key to the power-sharing agreement between them after the third election. The election would have introduced Gantz as prime minister in November 2021.
