A reward for profile departures from Polish developer Techland has led to real concern about the status of Dying Light 2. Most recently, Paweł Selinger, a 22-year veteran of the team, decided to move away from his role as Narrative designer. In a statement, the studio wished him the best veteran, but stressed that “he left a big chunk of himself with Dying Light 2, while working on the project from the beginning.”
The company, in a somewhat unprecedented move, also commented on rumors about the position of art director, confirming that there were no changes to this role. “The position of art director is not threatened and is held by Eric Cochonneau since November 2019,” said a spokesman. “Eric takes care of every aspect of the future production since then and the team under his leadership does everything possible to give the players the best possible game.”
So how about that game, then? It was originally released on PlayStation 4 in the spring of 2020, but currently has no release date attached. Well, Techland promises to “share interesting news” about the project in the near future. With our fingers crossed, we will receive a significant update of the game in the coming months, then.
