Switch ranked the largest handheld of all time by the British newspaper The Guardian

Remember N-Gage? We certainly do. The portable device that meets the mobile phone has been the property of all the rich idiots in schools around the world, but we could never convince our parents that it was a great idea to let us combine our communication device with that cute one. The Gaming Boy we have we spent all our time with. The joke is on you parents: now everyone has a phone that plays games.

We feel a little justified in finding out that N-Gage is only 17th on The Guardian’s list of the top 20 handheld consoles of all time, well below Nintendo Switch (which we all obviously own), DS (which we … Probably all own?) and 3DS (which we should all are their own, because it is the best).

The ranking, written by former Guardian Games publisher Keith Stuart (noted Dreamcast fan), puts the Nintendo Switch in pole position, despite being the fourth best-selling portable device of all time, behind the PSP, DS and Game Boy Advance . .

DS comes right behind the Switch, and 3DS ranks third, with Game Boy Advance and SP in fourth, and Game Boy in fifth. Only in 6th place a non-Nintendo portable device takes a look at: PlayStation Vita.

The Guardian’s reasoning for putting Nintendo Switch in the first place is simple: the merger between the handheld and the home console combines most of all its previous consoles into one.

“The switch is essentially the culmination of everything Nintendo has tried to do with games since 1989. […] The switch is more than a technology – sometimes it felt like a friend. “

Do you agree or do you think the 3DS was robbed? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
