SUV jumps over Daytona Beach bridge and slams through traffic arms

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach police are once again looking for a driver who couldn’t wait for a drawbridge after registering an SUV that slammed through both sets of traffic arms and jumped over the bridge.

Daytona Beach police officials said the small SUV was spotted around 7:45 AM Monday heading east from the mainland to the beach on the Main Street Bridge.

Security video shared by the police shows the SUV hurtling through the first set of traffic arms and never slowing down. The windscreen of the vehicle was destroyed, according to the video.

The driver then drove across the bridge as it went up, with all four tires leaving the ground as he went over the gap. According to the police, the driver also continued to hit the traffic arms on the other side of the bridge.

Police said both sets of traffic arms needed to be replaced.

No arrests have been made as of Thursday.

During Bike Week in March, a motorcyclist was also registered as he jumped the bridge.
