Suspect arrested after a 100-year-old man was murdered in his home, Los Angeles police said

Adam Dimmerman, 47, was already in jail when the police charged him with murder.

He was arrested in the Encino neighborhood on Thursday morning after police officers received a call about someone who had been attacked, according to a news release from the department.

That sexual assault victim, who sustained minor injuries, and other residents in the area pointed the officers to Dimmerman, who was arrested without incident, police said. An ax and knife were found on the spot.

An hour later, police officers responded to another call in Encino after firefighters found an elderly man with multiple cuts and bruises in his home.

The man, who did not mention the police in their press release, was pronounced dead on the spot.

On Friday, police said Dimmerman had been charged with murder in the older man’s death. He was also charged in the first attack. The police have not given a motive.

It was not immediately clear whether Dimmerman had a lawyer.

Jason Shakib identified the man killed to CNN daughter KABC as Youssef Mahboubian and told KABC he was Mahboubian’s grandson. Shakib said Mahboubian’s age was 102, which differs from the police’s statement.

“I thought he fell. I had no idea. They told me he fell in the garage and my cousin came home and found him,” Shakib told KABC. ‘I just thought he slipped and fell because he was an older man. I had no idea there was a man running around with a machete to kill people. “

Mahboubian and his wife lived in Alonzo Place, a street in Encino, for 30 years, Shakib said. He was an immigrant from Iran who moved to the US “decades and decades ago,” he said.

“My wife is shocked to learn that he was murdered by some ax-wielding psychopath,” said Shakib. “He must have been insane.”

Dimmerman has been charged with murder and is currently being held on $ 2 million bail.
