Roatan, Honduras
With 109 passengers on board, the Sun Country Airlines flight arrived this Friday afternoon at Juan Manuel Gálvez Airport on the island of Roatán.
The Boeing 737-800 hit the island at 3:15 PM and was immediately baptized with arches of water, as is the tradition when starting operations in a new city.
The passengers, who were received with leading music from a Garífuna group, are fellow countrymen who come to the country to spend Christmas and New Year’s holidays, as well as tourists who come to enjoy the paradise island.
The flight arrived direct and non-stop from Minneapolis, USA.
Sun Country Airlines, with more than 35 years of experience in the commercial market, this day started with operations in the insular department of Honduras. It has been reported that it will make direct flights to Roatan every Friday, arriving at 3:15 PM. and departure at 4.30 pm. the same day.
First flight with Air Europa
The week before, the first flight of the Spanish company Air Europa arrived at Golosón de La Ceiba International Airport.
This flight, operated on a Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner aircraft, took off from Madrid-Barajas Airport with 297 passengers on board and landed at the Golosón military platform in the city of La Ceiba at around 6:20 am local time (12:20 GMT) .
About six Air Europa flights will arrive in La Ceiba in December, while repair work continues at Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport, in the north of the country, which was inundated by heavy rains left by Tropical Storms Eta and Iota.
The landing of a Boeing 787-900 at Golosón de La Ceiba Airport remains in the air terminal’s history and shows the “potential” of becoming one of the most important in the country.
