Mets owner Steve Cohen did not stop at his Twitter statement announcing the dismissal of GM Jared Porter because, in 2016, he allegedly sent a stream of inappropriate texts to a reporter.
Cohen developed the social media platform on Tuesday when a user asked him: “Speleology to cancel the culture is ugly, now that [Porter’s] life has been destroyed, what is his way to redemption Mr. Cohen? ”
“I have no idea. I have an organization of 400 employees that matters more than anyone,” Cohen answer. “It simply came to our notice then [have] it gives a weak example to the culture I am trying to build ”.
Earlier on Tuesday, Cohen announced the start by tweeting: “I fired Jared Porter this morning. In my initial press conference, I talked about the importance of integrity and said it. There should be zero tolerance for this type of behavior. ”
Cohen handled his own “I too” accusations at his Point72 Asset Management firm before being approved as the new owner of the Mets in October. Several former Connecticut hedge fund employees filed complaints of discrimination and misogyny last year at the state’s Human Rights and Opportunities Commission. The allegations have raised concerns about MLB owners approving Cohen’s $ 2.4 billion franchise, The Post reported in August.
