Stephen Strasburg was placed on the Nats injured list

The national team placed the right pitcher Stephen Strasburg on the list of 10 injured days, retroactively compared to Thursday, with inflammation of his right shoulder. Washington selected right-back pitcher Paolo Espino’s contract and recalled right-back pitcher Ryne Harper from Alternate Training Site (Fredericksburg), with Espino scheduled to start in place of Strasbourg in Sunday’s match against the D-backs.

Straight Wander Suero (left oblique stem) was also placed on IL for 10 days. Espino, 34, will start for Washington on Sunday against Arizona. He will mark his fourth career in the Major League and his second as a member of the national team. He started on September 22, 2020 against Philadelphia, allowing three runs won on seven hits in four innings. He followed this up with two innings of a light, unscored shot on Sept. 27 vs. Mets.

Harper, 32, did not appear in a game with the national team during his first season in 2021.

Strasburg, 32, is 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA in two starts this season.

The 29-year-old Suero appeared in eight games in the Washington bullpen, throwing at an ERA of 1.42 (1 ER / 6.1 IP).
