Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry eliminated the member of the Hall of Fame Reggie Miller for the second-highest triple in NBA history after scoring 2,561 career triples early in the second half of Saturday’s game against the Utah Jazz.
Curry now ranks 412 points 3 points behind Hall of Famer Ray Allen, the greatest in NBA history.
The record for triples came properly. Curry entered the band at the beginning of the second half, sent the ball to Draymond Green on the wing, then moved to the corner and shot with a quick pass from Green.

“What defines Steph is his ability to hit 3 or dribble,” said the Warriors coach. Steve Kerr, before Saturday’s match during a video conference with reporters. “Either he dribbles with all his movement or he plays with the ball and it’s probably where he and Ray Allen look most alike. Reggie was much more of a 3-point, addictive, 3-point guy.”
Curry caught Miller in record time. Miller needed 1,388 games in his career to score 2,560 3-pointers, while Allen needed 1,074 games to reach 2,561. Curry passed this mark in just 715 games.
“But Steph and Ray, in my mind, are the best two in terms of the diversity of their three-point points, so they’ll be at the top of the list,” Kerr said. “The ability to shoot him in so many different ways is just an incredible threat that the defenses have to deal with.
“So I was lucky enough to coach Steph and watch him play all these years and enjoy the show like everyone else. And you also know him so well and experience what it’s like to lead a team with Steph. It’s an incredible luxury to have a leader like him. “
Curry, 32, changed the modern game by extending his attention to himself and the younger shooters who followed him. He is proud of the time he put into his own game to become probably the best shooter in basketball history. Curry’s complex game routine has become a spectacle over the years, but his shooting range has been a marvel of training that warrior officials have marveled over time.
Curry’s coach Davidson College, Bob McKillop, explained how he feels Curry has changed the game the most over time.
“Well, the first change is that it brings great joy,” Mckillop told ESPN in 2019. “And I think that resonates with the Warriors. They play with joy. Steve Kerr trains with joy. That starts with Stephen. So That’s number one.
“We are talking about his three years and they are wonderful, but let’s talk about the number of trays, let’s talk about the percentage of shooting for trays. Let’s talk about crossings.
