Steph Curry, the bench, takes the Warriors out of the 22-point hole – The Athletic

The Warriors’ starting lineup was outscored by 12 points to open Friday night’s rematch against the Clippers. They met late in the second quarter for two minutes. They were beaten by seven points. They opened the second half together. This time they were only easily erased, losing a five-minute stretch with one before Steve Kerr pulled the plug.

Progress. But still: the starting team was overtaken by 20 points in 13 minutes on Friday. It’s almost always an NBA knockout, especially against a top team. This was the abnormal appearance. In the surrounding minutes, the Warriors came out of that hole to beat the Clippers 115-105 and go 5-4 this season.

So there is good and evil. What happens to the starting range and what happens so well elsewhere? The warriors won, so let’s open with the positive. It is the bigger story of this game.
