Starling Mars disabled due to rib fracture

MIAMI – An MRI test revealed that Marlins star center midfielder Mars suffered a non-displaced fracture at the 12th rib (left side), the team announced on Monday afternoon. Mars will not be active for five to seven days before being re-evaluated, which would help estimate when it could return to action.

Miami will place Mars on the list of people with disabilities before Tuesday’s game against the Orioles and will make a proper move.

Mars came out in the middle of his ninth round in Miami’s 1-0 loss to Giants Sunday at the Depot borrowed park. He caught the attention of the coaching staff when he started touching his side and was visited near the battlefield by manager Don Mattingly and coach Gene Basham after he missed a Tyler Rogers curve.

Mars is an essential part of the Marlins list. It began to explode completely in 2021, hitting .316 / .420 / .491 with two home runs and a .912 OPS. The Dominican started all 15 games in Miami on the center field.
