Spotify is the latest technology company to switch to a flexible working model in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The streaming company announced on Friday that it is adapting a “Work from Anywhere” model, which will allow employees to choose whether they want to be in the office full time, be at home full time or a combination of the two.

The company will also introduce more flexibility around locations so that employees will be able to choose the country and city in which they work. Spotify will offer subscriptions to workspaces for employees who choose to work remotely, but still want a dedicated workspace.

“As part of our ongoing dynamic work effort, we are re-evaluating our office spaces around the world for increased durability, flexibility and well-being to ensure that all our employees, regardless of skills or situations, can work comfortably and efficiently.” The ultimate goal of our new design approach is to make sure employees have a place to focus, collaborate and create – whether it’s in an office, in a conferences or in café spaces. “

A growing number of companies are beginning to consider remote work as a more permanent option due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Salesforce announced this week that it will allow employees to choose whether they want to come back to the office, saying that “the 9 to 5 business day is dead.” Twitter and Square allow employees to work from home “forever,” while Microsoft said workers will have more flexibility to work from home.
