Spiritfarer celebrates 500,000 copies sold and launches Lily Update for free

Thunder Lotus has announced that Lily Update is now available as a free download – and that Spiritfarer itself has reached a new milestone, with 500,000 copies sold worldwide.
If you haven’t tried Spiritfarer yet, it’s a nice management game where you make friends with spirits and deliver them to the afterlife. You care about them along the way, fishing and farming to cook their meals and create custom homes for them on your boat. It’s a great game, further enhanced by the fact that it’s available with Xbox Game Pass, but be warned: it will happily wreak havoc on your emotions.

Thunder Lotus says that Lily is a butterfly spirit and Stella’s younger sister. It will appear towards the end of the game and, after your first conversation, will help you navigate at night. The response to Spiritfarer was extremely positive, but one comment made by several players was that they would like more of a conclusion to Stella’s story. As Stella’s sister, Lily offers “a sweet and personal window to many scenes from Stella’s life.” Thunder Lotus adds that “it decided to make Lily Update a little smaller than the others to take the time properly and address the most common feedback I’ve received since the game’s release: Stella’s Story and Spiritfarer’s Ending ”. In addition to adding a new spirit, this update also allows you to fish in cooperation and brings a number of improvements in the quality of life.

Thunder Lotus also celebrates that Spiritfarer has sold over 500,000 units “worldwide in all systems” and is “the studio’s most successful project to date.” Spiritfarer has two more updates planned for 2021 and we will update you when Thunder Lotus shares more about them. Will you start Spiritfarer to see the new content or will you start with a new save from the beginning? Tell us in the comments!
