Officers followed the driver of a van on SoCal Highways in northern San Diego County in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles before a CHP officer sent the vehicle on a turn in the Pacoima area.
The pursuit began in Oceanside and headed north on Highway 5.
He entered downtown LA at about 3:30 pm and arrived in Cahuenga Pass between Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley ten minutes later. The driver continued on Highway 101 to the north and turned onto Highway 170.
Two people appear to be in the van. The driver appeared to be waving a gun from the window in East Los Angeles.
He then dropped the gun on Highway 170, where it was recovered by officers.
A CHP officer executed a PIT maneuver a few kilometers later, turning the van and ending the chase in Pacoima.
It was not clear as soon as he was pursued.
