Spiders making a mass exodus against the backdrop of massive floods in Australia

It becomes biblical.

Spiders are making a mass exodus amid widespread flooding in southeastern Australia.

Heavy rainfall over the past week has forced thousands to flee their homes in New South Wales, with hundreds more to be rescued from rising waters, officials said Monday.

But people are not the only ones fleeing the floods – the swarms of creatures have tried to reach land, according to videos and photos posted on social networks.

Melanie Williams, from Macksville, NSW, posted a video on Facebook on Saturday showing hundreds of peanuts crawling through the garage door.

“Lots of SPIDERS from the floods,” she wrote.

Another video, posted by TikTok user Shenea Varley over the weekend, showed spiders hanging from a fence as they struggled to escape the flooding below.

“There were also dives, ants, practically every insect, crickets – all just trying to escape the floodwaters,” Varley told The Guardian Australia after a visit to western Sydney.

“My husband filmed her because I wasn’t approaching her,” she added. “When he stood still, he had spiders climbing his legs.”

Kinchela Creek resident Matt Lovenfosse told CNN on Tuesday that it was still raining and the floods were very close to his family’s home.

“The morning should be inside and the spiders will be everywhere in the house,” he told the outlet, adding, “the trees are full of snakes.”
