Specifications Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2: QLED, 699 USD

Following a playback leak on Monday, the key specifications for the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 have now appeared with a possible starting price. This comes from a slide tweeted by Microsoft leaker WalkingCat (@h0x0d) today.

The original model announced in January uses a 4K AMOLED touch screen, and Samsung is now looking at this with a 13.3-inch QLED (Quantum dot LED) screen. Samsung calls it “the first in the world” for Chromebooks, and a “tested” badge announces “Color volume 100% acc. the DCI-P3. “

Meanwhile, the next big improvement is the “battery life” of over 12 hours. This should address very much the inability of the current model to go through a day without the need for a recharge. We then see that this Chromebook Galaxy 2 will be offered with a third generation Intel i3 processor compared to today’s i5-10210U. Wi-Fi 6 Gigabit needle is also promoted.

Samsung also claims the “premium sound”, which is 178% louder, while the “ultra-thin profile” is slightly heavier at 2.75 pounds compared to just 2.2.

From this image, there does not appear to be a fingerprint sensor in the upper right corner. The first generation had a high empty space on the keyboard, but an ordinary black key is all that is visible here. The previous playback confirms that, although the angle makes it harder to notice, in an unfortunate reversal for Chrome OS devices.

Finally, this spec leak reveals that the Galaxy Chromebook 2 will be launched at Best Buy and Samsung.com in February 2021. In a follow-up tweet, WalkingCat says it will be priced at $ 699. This probably refers to the input model, but the exact configuration is unknown. As it moves away from the premium price – for a Chromebook – of $ 999, Samsung is clearly targeting a wider audience this time around.
