MADRID – Spanish police said on Sunday they had discovered the first workshop using a 3D printer to produce illegal firearms in the country.
Police said a person was arrested in Tenerife, Canary Islands, after being linked to the clandestine workshop where the suspect allegedly made 3D printing assault weapons.
In addition to the printer, agents confiscated components for 19 weapons made from 3D printing, several knives, chemicals that could be used in the manufacture of explosives and “objects with white supremacist symbols”.
