An unemployed Spanish waiter is on trial for allegedly cutting his mother into 1,000 pieces, storing them in lunch boxes and eating them – with the help of his pet puppy, according to a report.
Alberto Sánchez Gómez, 28, who was arrested in February 2019, admitted in court on Wednesday that he heard voices telling him to kill his mother, Maria Soledad Gómez, 68, in while watching TV in their Madrid apartment, Sun reported.
He said the voices were those of neighbors, acquaintances and celebrities, according to the press, but insisted that he did not remember anything about cutting his mother or consuming her.

When officers investigating a friend’s report of the missing woman appeared at his door, he allegedly told them, “Yes, my mother is here – dead.”
“The dog and I ate it little by little,” he told police.
Investigators said they found parts of Soledad’s remains in Tupperware containers in their refrigerator and bones in drawers in the apartment next to the capital’s famous Las Ventas racing arena.
State prosecutors accused the alleged cannibal of strangling his mother after an argument earlier that year, according to the report.
“The accused then transferred his mother’s body to the bedroom and placed it on the bed in order to make her body disappear. To do this, he cut it using a carpenter’s saw and two kitchen knives,” the indictment says.
“Once he cut off her body, he ate a piece from time to time, for about a week, putting some parts of her body in Tupperware containers around the apartment and in the refrigerator and throwing others in plastic bags. “, he adds.
Sánchez Gómez, who faces 15 years in prison for life, underwent a psychiatric examination, the results of which are expected to be presented during the trial.
Prosecutors also want to compensate an older brother with 90,000 euros – about $ 108,000 – for the loss of his mother if he is found guilty of murder and desecration of a corpse.

“I can’t stop thinking about what happened. I was sick for a long time and took refuge in drugs,” Sánchez Gómez wrote in a letter from prison, Sun said.
“I had been hearing voices for a long time and I had hallucinations. All this led me to the worst thing that happened in my life,” he added in a letter published by the local press.
