Spain will keep a record of those who refuse to be vaccinated against covid-19

Spain will keep a register of people who refuse to be vaccinated against covid-19 and share it with other EU countries, although their data will not be made public, Health Minister Salvador Illa said on Monday.

In an interview with La Sexta television, Salvador Illa insisted that Spaniards will not be required to be vaccinated against covid-19.

With those who do not want to be vaccinated, “what will be done is evidence that, in addition, will be shared with other European partners (…), with those people who have been offered and simply have rejected. “he explained.

“It is not a document that needs to be made public and will be done with the utmost respect for data protection,” he added.

According to a recent survey conducted by the public demographic institute, 28% of Spaniards are against immediate vaccination, against 40.5% who are willing to do it now and 16.2% who are based on this if the drug “has guarantees” and ” is reliable.

These acceptance rates increased significantly compared to the results of the survey conducted in November, when 47% of respondents did not want to be vaccinated.

“It seems to me that at this moment we all see that the way to defeat the virus is to vaccinate all of us or the better the better,” said Illa.

The vaccine manufactured by Pfizer and BioNTech laboratories began being administered on Sunday in many European countries.

Spain, which has officially counted about 50,000 deaths and more than 1.8 million infected since the start of the pandemic, also began immunizing its population on Sunday, giving priority to residents and nursing home workers.

The government hopes to vaccinate between 15 and 20 million people, out of a population of 47 million, in the first half of 2021, including 2.5 million before the end of February.
