Sources – Several teams reach the New York Jets about Sam Darnold

The commercial discussions of the quarterback from the entire league have already heated up and several teams have contacted the New York Jets to express their interest in trading for Sam Darnold, the general choice no. 3 in 2018, by league sources.

The Jets did not reject the calls, according to sources, but neither did they make final and firm decisions as to which direction they want or are ready to go.

Darnold, 23, could change to use the compensation he receives in exchange for another defender or be able to shoot a defender with a second general choice. All options are explored and are on the table, on a league source.

Contacted on Saturday, the Jets have not confirmed that they have received commercial calls on Darnold. However, other sources said they did.

Looking back on the first quarterback trade deal last weekend, we should take a look at the potential market for Darnold.

Teams that called up Matthew Stafford, who was transferred from Detroit to the Los Angeles Rams last weekend, included the Washington Football Team, the Indianapolis Colts, the Carolina Panthers, the San Francisco 49ers, the Chicago Bears and others.

The jets are not yet ready to make a transaction and yet they review what is the best way to go for the organization. But with Stafford gone to Los Angeles and the Eagles close to a deal for Carson Wentz, the Jets are not expected to lag behind in making their own quarterback decision that will have league-level ramifications.
