The Washington football team will promote Jennifer King as a full-time offensive assistant, a source told ESPN, becoming the first woman of color to be a full-time coach in the NFL.
King spent last season as a full-time intern, working with foundation coach Randy Jordan. The Washington defenders received a strong production from JD McKissic, who caught the best 80 passes in his career for 589 meters and rushed 85 times for 365. Also, debutant Antonio Gibson rushed for 795 yards. meters and 11 touchdowns, as he moved from the receiving majority game to college.
King also worked as an intern for two years under coach Ron Rivera when he was in Carolina in 2018 and ’19. She was also an assistant coach for the Arizona Hotshots receivers of the American Football Alliance.
King was an offensive assistant at Dartmouth College in 2019, before joining Washington last season. She regularly attended NFL coaching clinics from 2015 to ’18 and participated in the NFL Women’s Career Forum in 2018. She also played for three professional women’s soccer teams from 2006 to ’19 : Carolina Phoenix, with whom she played, spent 11 years, New York sharks and DC Divas.
She also served as head coach of the Johnson & Wales University Charlotte women’s basketball team from 2016 to ’18, leading her to a USCAA Division II national championship. She was an assistant on the Greensboro College women’s basketball team from 2006 to ’16.
He played softball and basketball at Guilford College.
