Sonia Valentín is the new production director of Wapa

The management of Wapa Televisión announced today the appointments of Sonia Valentín as Production manager and while Frank Dobek as Director of Operations. Both will be responsible for leading one of the channel’s largest and most dynamic departments starting Monday, March 15th.

Valentín will be in charge of supervising and providing the needs of local productions, as well as providing assistance in content administration and management. He will also be responsible for coordinating and producing special events. In addition, he will be responsible for hiring talent and specialized staff for the development of new projects, among other functions.

From this new role, I will use my knowledge and my genuine desire to continue to contribute to the development and growth of existing projects and others that we will start soon, “said the producer, director and actress, in a press release .

Frank Dobek, who has a history of more than 25 years in the television industry, will be responsible for leading the channel’s staff and technical team, including cameramen, lighting technicians, coordinators, editors and audio, among others. Similarly, it will provide technical support to other departments.

In this new role, my commitment is to make sure that the resources we offer are of optimal quality and with the best technology for the benefit of our spectators and customers, ”Dobek also said in a written communication.

Sonia Valentín is a graduate of the Department of Communications at the Universidad del Sagrat Corazón. He studied graduate school with a concentration in film at the University of Maine, as well as acting at HB Studio in New York. Throughout his career, he has produced and starred in more than a dozen productions. He has also directed films and plays. Valentín is the founder of Producciones Copelar, a production company under which he created programs such as “Entre nosotras” and “Together in the morning”, broadcast by Wapa. For the past three years, he has collaborated on the “Viva la noche” program as host of the “Calentando la noche” analysis and discussion segment, which will culminate next Thursday to dedicate himself to his new duties.

Frank Dobek holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronics from San Juan College of Technology with a concentration in Communications. In 1993, he began his career at Coquí.net, installing the first internet servers in Puerto Rico. In 1995, he moved to WIPR, where he started as an electronics technician, then was technical director and later supervisor of the engineering department. In 2007, he joined Wapa Televisión as director of production operations. From this position, she has led at a technical and operational level projects such as: “Idol Puerto Rico”, “Miss Universe Puerto Rico”, election coverage and other special offers, in addition to local channel programs and Wapa Deportes.
