The production of MacBook and iPad would have been affected by the lack of electronic components.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, Nikkei Asia reported on Thursday that global lack of ongoing chips has now reached Apple, with some iPads and MacBooks affected. Nikkei Asia reported that some iPad assemblies were affected by the lack of display components, while MacBook production was delayed due to lack of chips – a problem affected major manufacturers such as Tesla, GM and Samsung.

Apple did not immediately return a request for comment on the report.

Nikkei Asia reported that Apple has delayed some of its component orders for the affected gadgets from the first half of 2021 until later in the year due to the ongoing problem. But Apple is certainly not the only one affected by the lack of chips. And something appraisal see the issue continue until 2022, including from Apple Foxconn.

Samsung, for example, is another major manufacturer affected by the lack of chips, along with co-CEO Koh Dong-jin saying During a recent shareholders’ meeting, there was “a serious imbalance in the supply and demand of chips in the IT sector globally”.

Meanwhile, General Motors is shutting down production at two of its plants due to a lack of global components, Detroit Free Press reported on Thursday. General Motors spokesman David Barnas told the newspaper that “the company’s intention is to cover as much lost production at these plants as possible.”

In other words, everyone is feeling the chip crack right now. Even the most powerful manufacturer on the planet is not immune to the lack of components.
