Snowstorm didn’t stop Skippack, Montgomery County, getting COVID vaccine

SKIPPACK, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – As heavy snow fell outside the Skippack Fire Company in Montgomery County, Donna Mastrangelo waited over an hour in the cold.

“I just wanted this because I’m tired of isolation and everything else,” said Mastrangelo, who celebrated his 73rd birthday with the COVID-19 vaccine. For her, it was worth the wait and the elements.

“I wear a mask every day and we’re restricted, so we have to do something,” said her husband, Joe.

The fire department has partnered with Skippack Pharmacy to give a thousand doses to people who qualify for Phase 1a in Montgomery County.

“The community told me when I did a survey and I asked them, ‘Do you really want to go out in the snow? “Everyone said, ‘Even if you call me at 3 in the morning, I’ll be there in my pajamas,'” said Mayank Amin, who owns the pharmacy.

That’s basically what happened. This clinic was reunited in less than 36 hours. The pharmacy found out it received the vaccines on Friday. By Saturday night, he had sent emails to anyone who had expressed interest on his site.

“By 5 o’clock in the morning, all those places were occupied,” Amin said.

Dressed as a Superman, Amin said he was proud that his independent pharmacy trusted these doses.

“Although I’m dressed like a superhero today, my superheroes are the ones who respond in an emergency, all these health professionals who have risked their lives every day in the last year to help save communities. theirs, “he said.
