FORECAST SUMMARY
It was another cold day in February, Wednesday, but for a change, one that showed no snowflakes, at least not until nightfall. Once it rolled last night, another round of accumulated snow traveled through Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This time, the snow was more stable as it traveled further south, and while many of us took on an inch or two of fluffy snow, some slightly larger amounts occurred in southern Pennsylvania, Delaware and South Jersey. These southern areas will probably have the most problems when it comes to traveling first thing this morning.
Any snow ends early today and most of the day should be dry, followed by a Friday without flakes. But, as has been the case for most of February so far, any flake break is short-lived. Sure enough, a new round of snow or a winter mix is expected by the middle of the weekend, which is likely to return in favor of the northern sections.
After that, next Tuesday will probably bring our next storm, this time maybe more sleet, frozen rain and rain, rather than snow. But, as was the case all month, let’s focus on one winter time at a time. Given the continuous active and winter pattern, lower temperatures remain in place for the foreseeable future, with no sustained thaws in sight.
DETAILED FORECAST
TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY

The snow will gradually diminish and end from northwest to southeast as we reach the heart of our morning rush today. The snow will last the longest near the I-95 corridor, where it may not be until mid-late in the morning, finally for the final.
Even though for many snow should be made in the heart of our morning rush, we will still have to be careful of slippery places due to freshly fallen snow, certainly on any untreated, raised surfaces, bridges and passages.
After the snow ends, the clouds will spend most of the day, however, we do not escape any sign of sunshine as we walk in the afternoon. The rest of the day will then be cold, but also drier, with maximums expected to be around frost.
Don’t expect a lot of melting with clouds and almost freezing temperatures, but road conditions will visibly improve during the day.
A second disturbance tonight and Friday we should dive far enough south to no longer have an influence on our weather, so just wait for a variable cloudy sky tonight with lows falling in the upper teens (watch the slippery places from a standing water freeze and slush).
Then, for Friday, you can expect more in terms of sun mixed with clouds to end the week. Despite the sun, the cold air remains firmly fixed, with Friday highs probably blocked in the 20s.
THIS WEEKEND
The weekend probably starts with sunshine early on Saturday and ends with sunshine later on Sunday, but in the meantime, another fast-moving storm will bring another round of winter weather on our way to mid-weekend.
For areas north and west of Lehigh Valley, it looks like most of the snow, while areas in the south and east could cope with snow, a mixture of winter and simple rains if you travel closer to shore. A certain accumulation of snow, ice and sleet is possible with this feature late Saturday and especially Saturday evening.
EARLY NEXT WEEK
Monday looks cold and dry, a short break between systems. But another storm, this one potentially more considerable, could affect the area from Tuesday to Wednesday.
It has the potential to be more sleet and icy rain than any other storm so far this month, so the potential for a mixture of winter and a little ice will need to be closely monitored. Simple rain could also affect some, especially in the south and east where you travel.
