It will have another blow to the regionals offline at least
The transition to running virtually all online fighting games tournaments in the last year has brought with it some growing pains that can lead to some headaches and unfortunate situations, although this is probably the worst fear of every player.
During an intense grand final today at the Smash World Tour Oceania Online Qualifier, one of the players ended up being disqualified after a reset of parentheses due to internet problems.
FURY | RaZe struggled to win the grand finals with the exceptional use of Dark Pit and Link, where he would continue to face GG | Kinaji to determine everything.
Kinaji’s snake quickly turned out to be a rather literal minefield of explosions, however, which saw him take the first two games closely due to excellent drops of grenade and bait that surrounded them.
The advantage would erode, however, as RaZe began to adapt and force Kinaji to start coming to him after he gained a stock at the beginning of the remaining games.
Game five went down to the last stock, where a clever double ditch trap would seal the reset of the support for Kinaji, while planting grenades in the recovery area.

RaZe went to reflect the explosives back to the soldier who worked, but Kinaji has already sent a smash that came at exactly the right time to finish the set.
The next round of games sought to start quite differently than before, with Kinaji stopping Snake in Shulk’s favor, but RaZe appeared to control almost anything.

That was until the match froze and it became obvious that RaZe’s internet had fallen at the worst possible moment.
The organizers gave the player about 10 minutes to return to the hall, although, unfortunately, they had to call him and end the tournament with a disqualification – it seems that just when RaZe’s internet came back online.
My net died during the grand finals and came back a few seconds after I was already DQd. I’m really sad 🙁

He joined Twitter shortly after to express his disappointment with the understanding results.
Kinaji entered the Twitch chat after DQ to say that he feels that he doesn’t really win, but RaZe congratulated his opponent and complimented his ability.
What is lucky in all this is that RaZe was already qualified to join the regionals offline for Oceania, so his loss mostly led to a smaller seed than Kinaji.
These regional finals are where Smash World Tour will start making payments, with the world finals offering a huge prize pool of $ 150,000.
As we continue to follow the evolving path of online events, such issues will be inevitable, although something like this happens in the grand finals hopefully extremely rare.
