SLO County sets another COVID-19 daily record and reports 5 more deaths

San Luis Obispo County reports the deaths of five more people who tested positive for COVID-19.

Health officials say two of the patients were 70 years old, one was 80 years old and two were 90 years old.

San Luis Obispo County added 258 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, another record for counting cases in a single day.

The previous record was set on Saturday, when 229 new cases were reported.

This brings the county’s total to 9,061 confirmed cases starting with December 22nd.

Thirty-eight people are hospitalized, including eight patients in intensive care. Another 2,012 people are recovering at home, and health officials say 6,930 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County had 65 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

The location of an additional 43 cases is under investigation, and another 12 are listed as “other”, which includes communities with less than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.

COVID-19 community testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
