SLO County reports 94 new COVID-19 cases, 4 more deaths

San Luis Obispo County added 94 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the county’s total number to 17,605 confirmed cases since Jan. 29.

It is the second day of this week when the total number of cases per day was below 100. 96 new cases were reported on Monday.

Health officials say 46 people are currently hospitalized. Another 1,949 people are recovering at home, and health officials say 15,411 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County reports that 19 of the 38 licensed and ICU beds in the county are currently occupied. Forty of these are taken by patients with COVID-19.

The county also added four new COVID-19-related deaths on Friday. To date, there have been 168 total deaths attributed to the virus in SLO County.

The location of an additional 61 cases is under investigation, and nine more are listed as “other”, which includes communities with less than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.

COVID-19 community testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
