SLO County reports 57 new COVID-19 cases, 7 more deaths

San Luis Obispo County health officials reported 57 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the county’s total number to 19,340 confirmed cases since Feb. 19.

The county has also added seven new COVID-19 deaths. So far, SLO County has recorded 217 deaths attributed to the virus.

Health officials say 22 people are currently hospitalized. Another 684 are recovering at home, and health officials say 18,395 people have recovered.

Seventeen of the 38 licensed and staffed UCI beds in the county are currently occupied. Nine of them are taken by patients with COVID-19.

The locations of an additional 64 cases are under investigation, and another eight are listed as ‘other’, which includes communities with less than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.

COVID-19 community testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
